IIE-SRF Fellowship in Germany 2022

IIE-SRF Fellowship is a completely covered scholarship for international students. IIE-SRF Fellowship is offered for doctoral programs. The Fellowship finances a grant of up to US$25,000, together with specific health insurance, to assist a visiting academic appointment of about a year.

The Baden-Württemberg Fund helps to visit research appointments at universities and other institutions of higher education in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, where researchers can carry on with their work in the area of liberty and security.  Qualified researchers comprise teachers, senior scientists, and government scholars from any country, academic area, or field that goes through or have recently fled pressing and targeted threats to their life and/or careers in their home countries or countries of permanent residence.

Eligibility for IIE-SRF Fellowship

To be eligible for IIE-SRF Fellowship applicants must satisfy the requirements below:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: All countries in the world
  • Senior researchers, Professors, and public scholars from any nation, academic area, or field may qualify.
  • Applications are evaluated for academic qualifications, the quality/potential of the candidate’s work, and the intensity of the threats that the candidate faces.
  • Preference is given to scholars who:
    • have a Ph.D. or highest degree in their discipline and/or who have broad teaching or research experience at a university, college, or other institution of higher learning;
    • are going through or have just fled from current, critical, and targeted threats to their lives and/or jobs in their home nations or nations of residence;
    • show superior academic achievement and promise;
    • will profit their home and/or host academic communities.

How to Apply for IIE-SRF Fellowship

To win the IIE-SRF Fellowship, follow the guidelines below:

(1) Candidates may apply directly or can have a third party submit application materials for them. The necessary application materials include:

  • Application coversheet
  • Academic statement. Please submit a comprehensive statement describing your academic and professional background and experience.
  • Up-to-date CV or resume.
  • Personal statement. Please submit a comprehensive statement detailing why you are applying to IIE-SRF for support.
  • 2 academic / professional reference letters from academic and/or professional colleagues who can speak to your research, publications, teaching, or other advanced academic experience.
  • 2 personal reference letters from colleagues or individuals who are cognizant of the problems that you have been facing in addition to your professional background. When possible, please make certain your referees write their letters on official letterhead and forward them to IIE-SRF directly at srf@iie.org.
  • One copy of your Ph.D. or higher degree
  • Samples of your most recent writing or research journals.
  • A letter from a recognized university that will be able to host your fellowship. This is not a requirement.
